On July 1st, we’re celebrating Canada’s 150th Birthday, and we’re doing so outdoors! I’ve partnered with President’s Choice to bring a few of their new, Canadiana-themed PC Insider’s Collection foods, to life.
To kick things off, we had an intimate, pre-July 1st celebration the week before to taste-test the new PC products, along with a veggie patty I’m working on for my next cookbook, as it’s always nice to have a meatless option on the table.
The Canadiana-inspired menu came together quickly and included PC burgers and burger buns; maple-flavoured marshmallows for campfire s’mores, decadent raspberry cheesecake bites; a tart and tangy dried red fruit mix with sour cherries, goji berries, goldenberries and more (I cannot stop eating this!); gourmet BBQ sauce; poutine-inspired sausages; a fresh, vibrant mango salsa; and a thirst-quenching lemon radler.
These foods celebrate who we’ve become as a country, taking inspiration from our diverse and delicious culinary landscape.
The goal of these President’s Choice products is to bring people together, something my boyfriend and I love to do. We happily host casual dinners, drinks and larger parties not only during major holidays, but on weeknights as well. It doesn’t need to be fussy to be special.
Gather around good food this summer, whether you’re here in Canada or abroad. Eating together around the table is a holiday in and of itself.
Check out all of the new President’s Choice products, and celebrate Canada’s big birthday, and the rest of the summer, in epic style.
