I’m Allison Day, the voice, food stylist and photographer of Yummy Beet.
I’m currently writing, food styling and photographing my third cookbook, Modern Lunch (Appetite by Random House, Spring 2019). My previous two books, Whole Bowls and Purely Pumpkin, are out now. My work has appeared in the New York Times, Chicago Tribune, Bon Appétit, SHAPE, Vegetarian Times, Prevention and more. I’m a regular contributor to Food Network Canada, too.
This blog features healthy, vegetable-focused recipes using seasonal, fresh ingredients. Having grown up with a sister who has celiac disease and lactose intolerance, many of the recipes I share on Yummy Beet are gluten-free, dairy-free and allergy-friendly. Without restrictions or dietary labels, Yummy Beet aims to showcase my love of beautiful, produce-packed cuisine that doesn’t sacrifice great taste or use hard to find ingredients. Yummy Beet took home gold in the 2015 Taste Canada Food Writing Awards, the highest honour for culinary writing in Canada, in their inaugural blog category.
I’m represented by Carly Watters, VP and Senior Literary Agent at the P.S. Literary Agency.
